Wayne Paes

Senior Scientist

Wayne is a Senior Scientist at Grey Wolf, with almost 10 years of experience in viral and cancer immunology, specialising in the development of mass-spectrometry-based techniques to identify targetable cancer-specific antigens for the design of next-generation immunotherapies.

In his most recent role at the University of Oxford’s Target Discovery Institute, he developed a novel epitope discovery pipeline that identified the first viral peptides generated by proteasome-catalysed peptide splicing which were further recognised by CD8+ T cells in HIV-infected patients. This work provided fundamental insight into a previously ‘hidden’ realm of the immunopeptidome, as well as how the antigenic landscape of a cell can be shaped.

Wayne holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of York, and an MsC in Pharmacology from the University of Oxford.
